Mark DeCarteret

Mark DeCarteret

A recent collaboration I was commissioned by Mark DeCarteret to do for his as-yet-unpublished novel, Off-Season. This extraordinary novel, set in the gaudy squalor of Seatown, can be found excerpted at Word Riot. ¬†Where are the brave publishers out there willing to take on literature that does more than attempt a “deceptive simplicity?”

  1. One such publisher is Caketrain. I’m quite impressed by their willingness to undertake the difficult obvious and the subtly fibered.

    “some cling and some bounce
    & some will never register”

  2. Amy,

Caketrain makes beautiful books. They published my friend Kim Parko’s genre-hybrid Cure All, a book worth reading if you haven’t already. Mark DeCarteret is a widely published poet/novelist who deserves an even wider audience.
