Mark DeCarteret

Mark DeCarteret

A recent collaboration I was commissioned by Mark DeCarteret to do for his as-yet-unpublished novel, Off-Season. This extraordinary novel, set in the gaudy squalor of Seatown, can be found excerpted at Word Riot.  Where are the brave publishers out there willing to take on literature that does more than attempt a “deceptive simplicity?”

  1. One such publisher is Caketrain. I’m quite impressed by their willingness to undertake the difficult obvious and the subtly fibered.

    “some cling and some bounce
    & some will never register”

    indeed

  2. Amy,

Caketrain makes beautiful books. They published my friend Kim Parko’s genre-hybrid Cure All, a book worth reading if you haven’t already. Mark DeCarteret is a widely published poet/novelist who deserves an even wider audience.
