Homecoming is a short animated film exploring the work of Franz Kafka through his homonymous story. The story follows the homecoming of a wayward son back to his fathers’ farm where he spent the first years of his life. The piece focuses on his inability to connect to the environment, and on his hesitation to make any step of approach. This film attempts to capture the feeling and atmosphere of Kafka’s work, and also serves as an exploration of the imagery the text evokes in my own mind.
Socrates Galiatsatos studied motion graphics at the Glasgow School of Art. He was the recipient of the school’s ‘Motion Graphics Award’ in 2007. His work has been screened in several film festivals in Greece and elsewhere. He lives in Athens.
