Editor’s Note

I'm pleased to announce that our Summer 2016 issue marks the release of our new Les Cheneaux Sessions. These sessions, filmed with 15 musicians and poets in Michigan's Upper Peninsula last summer, are a series of narrative performance pieces set amid creaking boathouses, torch-lit docks, abandoned grocery stores, and the cedar forests surrounding Lake Huron. For the next 3 months, a new Les Cheneaux Session will be released weekly. In this issue you will also find a fascinating essay exploring Sylvia Plath's last days of staggering creative output by the poet Robert Wrigley; new poems by Peter Schireson and Emily M. Trask, and an audio interview with author Rick Ewing, whose debut novella "Smoking Monkeys" Fogged Clarity letterpress printed and released this past spring.

I hope this issue, particularly our Les Cheneaux Sessions, offers you a chance to be still and at peace. They stand as expressions of joy and inspiration from a summer weekend that was among the most sublime of my life.

Onward,

Ben Evans
